Patience is a Virtue, And I Lost Mine A Long Time Ago…

We are, slowly, moving forward. We are, slowly, moving the movement forward. But, there are still hurtles to overcome. Unfortunately, the greatest hurtle to overcome seems to be the largest gay lobby group, The Human Rights Campaign. HRC, for years, has taken the lead in pushing for gay rights. They now, sadly, stand behind the President. I say sadly because President Obama talks a good game, and it got him elected. He has yet to actually DO anything on the issue of gay rights.

Dont Ask Dont Tell (DADT) was singled out in the State of the Union by President Obama to be repealed, and to allow gays and lesbians the freedom to serve in the military openly. As a side note to all those opposed to the repeal, the gays and lesbians are already there, they just are not allowed to openly proclaim it. Military personnel have said it does not matter if there are openly gay and lesbian military. The top brass have said it. The Congress have said it. The President has done JACK FUCKING SHIT!!! And HRC is backing him up in his inaction.

Fuck the surveys, HRC. The Blogosphere is moving beyond you. You are no longer the voice of “The Gays.” Thanks to technology, we can communicate amongst ourselves without waiting for your newsletters (which usually ask for money!). HRC has become too comfortable in their proximity to power with Obama in the White House. He meets with them, and says all the right things. But, if I may: Honey, he’s straight. He will never fuck you. You may want him to, but he won’t.

You know what also won’t happen? We are not going to wait. We are not going to sit and take the scraps that Obama feeds us from his table. The money will stop. The votes will stop. Then where will this President be? I won’t vote for someone like Sarah Palin, but I sure as hell won’t support someone or something (the Democratic Party) that does not support me.

In the good news section of today’s rantings, West Virginia (where sandwiches aren’t the only thing in bread!) actually blocked a forced vote by Republicans to put a ban on same-sex marriage on the ballot and state constitution. Kudos to the West Virginia Assembly.
