Forget a shot of tequila and hand me the damned bottle already! I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore! This is the rallying cry of the middle class today.
We aren’t just a little bit mad, we’re pissed as all fuck! What are we mad at? Just about everything, that’s what! Double standards for banks, no health care, obstructionist congressmen, jobs are gone, housing’s in the toilet and nobody is sticking it to Wall Street fat cats who took federal funds and are now thumbing their noses at regulation.
Until now…Elizabeth Warren, the TARP watchdog is calling out Wall Street for being adverse to a regulatory agency. Evidently, the banks are talking about passing on more fees to the consumer if they have to be regulated.
Wow! Wall Street wants to pass on more of their bullshit to the American consumer? Imagine that! They get us into this recession with their mortgage and securities practices and we bail them out. Then, when we want to make sure it doesn’t happen again, they basically say “fuck you.”
And in the ultimate irony, the short sale of the decade comes from the Mortgage Bankers Association. Yup, they just sold their headquarters for a big fat loss. And these same people are calling out American middle class consumers for doing the same thing!
Yes, the average consumer is inherently evil. We want to stick it to super-rich CEO’s and upper management types by taking away their golden parachutes and massive bonuses. Bonuses they get whether or not their company turns a profit! Bonuses they get whether or not they do their jobs!
If you, average Bar Fly, don’t do your job and basically screw your company up, would you get a bonus? A six or seven figure one? Nope, you’d get fired! Your bonus would be a pink slip, not several green ones.
These assholes want to take our money, our houses and our economy and do it scot-free. They want to have their cake and eat it, too! They want to pass along any regulation to us, the consumer!
For years, they’ve stuck it to us with massive overdraft fees – many times, allowing consumers to make purchases in excess of what their available funds were on debit cards only to charge them daily fees until their accounts were back in the black – ATM fees, late fees, transfer fees, teller fees, phone call fees, any kind of fee they wanted. Why? Because it allows them to turn huge profits and pay huge bonuses.
Now, when we say, “hey, you took our money, now we want something in return. We want you to be responsible and obey the laws and stop fucking us over every second of every day,” they say “no, we want your money and we’re going to get it and we are going to flip you the bird at the end of the day. Also, if you regulate us, we’ll increase our fees so we can keep your money and our money and everybody’s money. Oh, and you better keep paying on your underwater mortgage because it’s immoral for you to walk away from a deal even though we do it every day and we walked away from ours. So there.”
Yeah, that’s why middle America is now mad-as-hell America. We’re sick of out-of-touch politicians who just want to pander to their special interests and rake in money and perks. We’re sick of golden parachuted Wall Street types raking in record dough while we foot the bill and get screwed out of our pensions and houses. We’re sick of lobbyists watering down health care.
Right now, we’re just fucking sick of it all. We need a revolution. We need new leaders. We need to stick it to the Democrats and the Republicans until they wake the fuck up and pull their collective heads out of their collective asses. Call your elected leaders and let them know this shit ain’t right. If they don’t listen, vote against them when their turn comes. Don’t let them continue to get away with it just because you’ve always voted for one party.
Let’s use this anger for something besides keeping the distillery business booming. Let’s have a blood-less revolution at the voting booths. Let’s start seeing some real reform.
