Bonjour, ladies! Here is my review, and endorsment of Hendrick’s Gin.
This is my favourite gin of all time! It is not only good, but it is extraordinary.
Now, most of you drunk bastards know gin as that turpentine flavoured drink that doesn’t go well with anything. A “martini” is vodka. Not any more. The real Martini is gin. Gin is the ancient spirit of northern Europe. In fact, there were riots in Stuart England over gin distillation. Hence, most spirits called “gin” will make sure to show their “London Dry” roots.
Hendrick’s, unlike many gins, is small batch. That means it is not simply massed produced for consumption. It is distilled to be smoother and more rich in flavour than many mass produced gins which taste like “pine trees” according to many of my bar flies.
That it is smooth is evident to anyone who has ever had a real gin drink, be it Martini or Gin and Tonic. The Hendrick’s producers recommend half and half gin to tonic and a garnish of cucumber (used in the distillation process) rather than citrus.
Now, the debate over whether the gin should be kept in the freezer, fridge, or room teperature, that is another debate for another time.
I conclude with my recipe for a perfect Gin and Tonic:
1 part gin
1part tonic
Splash from lime wedge
stir ONCE
drink.
AAAAAHHHHH!!!!
